Custodian
A regulated firm that holds assets on behalf of their owners, such as a bank holding securities or a vault operator holding gold.
For tokenized assets, the custodian holds the real asset that backs the tokens. Who the custodian is, and how its holdings are checked, is central to a token’s risk.
